TRUE NORTH STRONG: Uniting Tactical Paramedics Across Canada

CANTACMED 2024 set a new benchmark for tactical medicine in Canada. Tactical and special operations paramedics, law enforcement, and military personnel came together to share real-world experience, challenge assumptions, and examine the realities of delivering care in high-threat environments. It was more than a conference, it was a working forum for a community that operates under pressure, where lessons are learned in the field and performance matters.
In May 2027, CANTACMED returns with a sharper, more operational focus. The program will include pre-conference workshops built around hands-on skill development, a scenario challenge designed to test decision-making under realistic conditions, and two full days of speaker-driven presentations grounded in operational experience. CANTACMED 2027 is built for those who operate where medicine meets risk and for those committed to pushing the standard forward.
Probably sounding like a broken record at this point, but can’t say enough good things about how incredible the entire conference was. The organization, coordination, time and effort this must have taken is so impressive. I hope the members of Ottawa PTU, their respective leadership who supported the project, and all the allied agency members who had a hand in this receive the appropriate accolades and commendations, they’re very well earned!
Can’t wait for the next conference. Great experience. Very well done. Great hotel and venue. Food, snaks, coffee, etc was great. Awesome gift bags and the challenge coin was very special.
The biggest issue observed would have been to cut the Costco muffins into halves or quarters. I think that speaks volumes to the quality of the conference!! Well done Ottawa Paramedics
